A 1900 view of the Blue Bridge area and of Brook Farm House. This old image derives from a postcard, one of which was sent to Mrs Blomfield's Aunt at Orange Hall, Gosfield which reads: "Dear Aunty, Thank you for the delicious bunch of grapes you sent me. Is not this a pretty view of Brook Farm? Please give much love to Kathie. From, Bepsie." (Details kindly supplied by Jan McDonald, Brook Farm House, Halstead.)

The drainpipes stacked on the roadside are the products of Blomfield's Brickworks which was on the opposite side of the road behind the thatched barn. The grassy track in the background has now become part of the entrance to the Blue Bridge Industrial Estate. Where cattle and young children then peacefully strolled heavy traffic now hastens through.

Below shows an extremely rare old photograph of cottages and people from the mid to late 1800's at Blue Bridge. This image has been kindly supplied by Ken Stanhope of Halstead.
