Halstead Town view 1950
back

A nice aerial shot of the town in 1950 with the A131 snaking from Head Street in the forground to Mount Hill at the back. Samuel Courtauld's factory is prominent in the background. A closer look sees the old St. Andrew's School (center left) and the centre bottom recalls the time when Halstead had two water towers. The empty spaces around the town bear witness to the many housing developments that now cover them.
