John Bragg of 1, Highbury Terrace, Halstead, sits on his bench c1900, pondering how to make the leather last a little longer. He is believed to be the same John Bragg, who was the caretaker of the Bathing Place, situated on a large bend in the River Colne called Moor's Hole and in 1896 was presented with an award for saving two children from drowning.
