Lilla Lawrence, a hardworking young lady of the 1920's rose early in the morning to tend to the needs of Beakley Farm, Oak Road, Halstead before proceeding to Trinity Square to help her father. Albie Lawrence was a baker and Lilla went round the houses delivering the freshly baked bread for him until he died in 1951. She was a familiar figure in her hat and breeches- considered very daring at the time!
