| Hawker - Geo Whiting |
 |

"Won't you buy my wares?" this hawker is pleading with a lady at Chalkney Mill House, White Colne at the turn of the 1900's. On his large wheeled cart, loaded with brushes, boots, baskets, and boxes is a notice which reads "Geo Whiting, Licensed Hawker, Colne Engaine". Out in all weathers he trudge round from village to village knocking on cottage doors trying to sell goods in order to earn enough to buy a crust of bread.
