Mrs Muriel Barker has risked life and limb for over 30 years seeing schoolchildren and their parents across Halstead's busy Colchester Road in all weathers. She started off at the old St. Andrew's School then moved along the road to the Mallows Field junction when the new St. Andrew's School was built off Mathew's Close in 1974.
