In spite of being blind from birth, Percy and Arthur Bragg, who lived for many years in Sible Hedingham, were able to support themselves unaided through their work with music. In the days before electric organs and keyboards, when many households gathered around a piano in the 'front' room for a family sing song, the brothers would travel many miles to tune the instruments. They were music teachers and entertainers. They loved more than anything to entertain audiences with a large reportoire of songs from popular musicals and films. This resulted in them broadcasting for the troops in Malta during World War II and appearing on Anglia Television in 1951 in Hughie Green's Opportunity Knocks All winners programme. Percy was also choirmaster at the village church where Arthur was the organist.
